It’s that time of year when ever parent, guardian and sibling is baking! Christmas certainly brings out the Mary berry in us all don’t you think?
Now I am a keen baker/follower/jumper of bandwagons so last year when I saw all these gingerbread houses popping up I immediately ran to the shops to by a kit.

It was fun, stayed together alright, and looked somewhat how it was meant to.. however it tasted rubbish! Really dry and flavourless! Not Christmassy at all!!
So in the spirit of indulgence and actually being kind to my tastebuds… I made my own gingerbread and bought a silicone mound to bake it in.. now I’m gonna be honest.. my expectations of gingerbread house building was probably higher than my skill.. unfortunately pretty, dainty, girly careful projects are not my strong point!!

Despite this we made a lovely gingerbread.. even if it ended up in a heap on a plate or (rather slighly) tuned into Simple and delicious gingerbread men!

Here is my recipe for anyone who wants their gingerbread house to taste as amazing as it probably looks!
300 g plain flour

1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

2 teaspoons ground ginger

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

125 g unsalted butter

100 g soft light brown sugar

1egg
Bake at 175.c for 12-15 mins depending on thickness and desired colour!
Enjoy!

And don’t forget to follow my other social media accounts and please send me your gingerbread house pictures!!!
